Patients experience their joint replacement surgery at an outpatient ambulatory surgery center for the first time in Lebanon, Lancaster, and Dauphin Counties. Since April of 2021, physicians at Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster (OAL), have been performing same day discharge joint replacement procedures at the North Pointe Surgery Center Lebanon (NPSC). Patients who meet pre-procedural requirements have their joint surgery in the morning and discharged home safely around lunchtime.
One of the faces behind this amazing new advancement for OAL: Gregory A. Tocks, D.O., Physician Director for the Outpatient Joint Committee at NPSC Lebanon. This position has allowed me to work side-by-side with physicians, nurses, administrators, and staff developing and maintaining this high-quality patient experience.
As a joint replacement fellowship trained surgeon at OAL, I personally perform outpatient shoulder, hip, and knee replacement procedures.
The Outpatient Joint Program at NPSC Lebanon offers a more proficient, safe, and cost-efficient surgery than one may experience in the hospital setting. Based on our outpatient joint patient outcomes, this program has ample opportunity to positively impact the local community in the future.
As an orthopedic surgeon, I love hearing how our team has changed a person’s life. When a patient tells you they are now able to get on the floor with their grandchildren, able to play a “better” round of golf, return to work, and get a healthy night of sleep, that’s what I appreciate.
