Steiner-Houck found this antique clock in a jewelry storefront in Mt. Joy and fell in love with it. She likes to use the 100-year-old clock as an accent piece. “I love incorporating antiques throughout our projects. Mixing the old and the new makes a more interesting space with more personality.”

The timelessness and architecture of the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco was very inspiring for Steiner-Houck. “It’s one of those structures where you feel like you’re in Italy or Rome,” she explains.

This painting by Suk Shuglie, a local Lancaster artist, is inspiring to Steiner-Houck for its beautiful, eye-catching and vibrant colors. She likes the strong statement it makes, and its ability to be used in a neutral space as the focal point.

“We’re often inspired by the fashion industry,” says Steiner-Houck. Her favorite pair of leopard boots represents how the animal prints and “bling” from fashion inspire interior design.

These pillows and tassels represent the one-of-a kind quality Sandra Steiner-Houck embraces in her designs. The fabric on the pillows comes from Italy and has real gold in the print. She especially likes the handmade English tassels for their size and uniqueness.

Steiner-Houck is attracted to this handmade bowl from Europe because it has beautiful form: “It’s very sculptural, and it’s earthy, yet contemporary.” She gets much of her inspiration from travel.
