Relax & Recharge
A Stately Stay:
When you walk into the Congress Hall lobby, you might spot a tour guide dressed in period clothing sharing facts about the building’s history. That’s because this establishment truly has a rich one. Now in its third century, Congress Hall has claimed its title as America’s Oldest Seaside Resort. Situated in the heart of Victorian Cape May, the hotel boasts stately columns and a grand promenade that would make even our founding fathers feel at home. Plus, this place is chock-full of amenities. Besides the ultra-plush, yet era-appropriate, guest quarters, Congress Hall features a foodie-favorite restaurant (more on that later), bar and live music venue. Oh, and prepare to be pampered: the resort includes every aspect of poolside and beachside service, right down to your very own lounge chair in the sand. You may never want to leave.

Savor the Seaside
Pig Out:
Start your stay at Congress Hall with brunch at The Blue Pig Tavern, a cozy restaurant that derives its name from a gambling parlor once housed in the building. Snag a coveted patio table and soak in the sun while you enjoy their farm-to-table fare. You can channel your inner Southerner with the stone ground grits and eggs, or try their take on eggs Benedict (their Beach Plum Farm Benedict sits atop a cheddar scallion biscuit). Speaking of Beach Plum Farm…that’s the resort’s 62-acre farm located just two miles away, open for guests to tour.

Exit Here:
If you’re craving some fun flavor during your seaside retreat, make plans to dine at Exit Zero Cookhouse. Curry favor (or more appropriately, flavor) with your family at this Indian fusion restaurant with a hip atmosphere and scrumptious eats. A collection of curries is available, including masala, korma and more. Seafood speckles the menu, of course, but you may be surprised where you find it. We love the lobster and shrimp pot pie, a great option for those not feeling so spicy. Whatever you do, just don’t leave without trying the homemade ice cream in tantalizing flavors like star anise-macadamia, cinnamon-raisin curry and chocolate chipotle.

Lights and Sights:
If you’re looking for a fun activity to do between naps on the sand, head to the spot with the best view of the shore: the Cape May Lighthouse. This historic treasure, built in 1859, offers a spectacular observation point for the surrounding Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean. While you’re there, take a leisurely walk through the Cape May Point State Park, which features nature trails and a hawk watch platform.
