University Theatre and Music Department Production: The Pirates of Penzance
to
Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center West Cottage Avenue, Millersville University, Millersville, Pennsylvania 17551
Batten down the hatches, 'ye Millersville Marauders, another band of Pirates are coming to town! Millersville's University Theatre and music department have joined forces to present Gilbert and Sullivan's comic musical masterpiece, The Pirates of Penzance. The opening night performance will be held November 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Clair Performance Hall, located in the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center.
About the Play: The Orphaned pirates, flat-footed policemen, a bevy of blushing maidens and the pretty daughter of Major General Stanley are all the ingredients for a fabulous recipe of Gilbert & Sullivan at their very best. Sullivan's ever popular and memorable score contains some of his most beautiful writing as Gilbert, in his most topsy-turvy of all plots, leads us through the swashbuckling world of young Frederic, the Pirate apprentice, who was born on February 29 in a leap year and therefore won't be 21 and come of age until he is 84. That is just the beginning of the zany complications that make this musical roller coaster ride so memorable and fun.
Performance Dates:
November 2 at 7:30 p.m.
November 3 at 7:30 p.m.
November 4 at 2 p.m.
