The Turtles Featuring Flo & Eddie & The 5th Dimension Featuring Florence LaRue
Few rock performers have remained as vital through the 1960’s, ‘70’s, ‘80’s and ‘90’s as have Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman. Initially they made their mark with the Turtles, then they joined Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention, and then they glided into their own Flo & Eddie persona, dishing out records that have encompassed a multitude of personalities.
The Turtles first single, their arrangement of a Bob Dylan song, “It Ain’t Me Babe,” was an immediate hit, quickly establishing the Turtles as a force of their own. Many more hits followed including “Happy Together,” “Elenore” and “She’d Rather Be With Me.”
Joining The Turtles are GRAMMY winners, The 5th Dimension.
In 1967, a little known vocal group called The 5th Dimension recorded a song called “Up, Up and Away” which turned out to be one of the biggest smash hits in musical history. The single won several GRAMMY Awards, the group catapulted to stardom, and their story has been one of success ever since.
The 5th Dimension has released over a dozen hit albums and received 14 gold records, 6 platinum records and 6 GRAMMY Awards. Their classics include such hits as: “One Less Bell To Answer,” “Stone Soul Picnic,” and “Aquarius/Let The Sun Shine In.”
