Susquehanna Chorale Christmas Concert
to
Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren 777 S. Mount Joy St Elizabethtown
The Susquehanna Chorale will present its annual Candlelight Christmas concert series, a central Pennsylvania tradition.
The Chorale is a nationally acclaimed adult chamber ensemble of 36 auditioned singers, founded in 1981 by Artistic Director and Conductor Linda L. Tedford.
This year’s concert will feature music that reflects the hope, reassurance, and beauty of the holiday season, and will feature the festive sounds of brass and percussion provided by the Messiah College Faculty Brass. The concert opens with Lara Hoggard’s Personent Hodie (“on this day”) sung in a candlelit processional. Other highlights include Glenn Rudolph’s The Dream Isaiah Saw, and the delightful crowd favorite, A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas. Contemporary composer Dan Forrest’s work will be showcased in A Festive First Noel, along with his ethereal The Work of Christmas. The concert concludes with the traditional performance of Silent Night, sung in the round by candlelight.
A pre-concert prelude by the Messiah College Faculty Brass and organist Daniel Dorty will be presented 15 minutes prior to each performance.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door for adults, and $5 for students. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
Tickets are available through the Chorale’s website, www.susquehannachorale.org, or by calling the Messiah College Box Office, 717.691.6036.
The concerts are being sponsored by Season Sponsor Clermont Wealth Strategies, and Media Sponsor PennLive.com/Patriot-News.
