The goal of plein air is to experience a place and time using all your senses and translate those impressions into your painting. Class will meet for five weeks to paint the landscape in various Lancaster County parks. In the event of bad weather, class will meet at PCAD. Emphasis will be placed on simplifying the landscape, working with composition, value, and color. Students will learn to work quickly and decisively. Most importantly, students will learn about the quality of existing light versus that of a photograph.
