My name is Doug Kline, a member of the Lancaster Sunrise Rotary Club in Lancaster, Pa. It is once again time for our annual "Ride for Literacy" cycling event. Rotarians take great pride in providing humanitarian services and encouraging high ethical standards to help build goodwill and peace throughout the world. This is one of our many events we look forward to hosting every year.

3 Scenic Rides
The Short Story—10 miles
This is a group ride departing at 10AM from Community Park. There will be a leader and No One will be left behind. Designed for the casual rider and families, this ride travels through suburban developments and farmland around the Lancaster Airport. Approx time/1 hour
The Novel—21 miles
This ride is a show and go. Cue sheets will be provided and roads will be marked. Travel at your own pace through covered bridges and past scenic Lancaster Farmland. One water stop with port-a-potty.
The Trilogy—43 miles
This ride is also a show and go. Cue sheets will be provided and the roads will be marked. Travel at your own pace, this ride includes beautiful Amish Farms, one-room schoolhouses and covered bridges. Two water stops with port-a-potty.
*This year you have the option to take the “Cat’s Back Mountain Challenge.” For those riders looking for even a greater challenge climb the legendary “Cat’s Back Mountain” by taking the alternate route on your cue sheet and then meet up with your riding companions at the next water stop.
Metric Century
This ride combines both the Novel and Trilogy to offer 100 kilometers for the most experienced riders. Stop at the Community Park between rides for a short lunch break.

Ride for Literacy 2014 - Lancaster Sunrise Rotary Club
On Saturday, May 10, 2014, join us for a morning of food, fun, and cycling through scenic Lancaster County Farmland as you help to improve the literacy. A recreational bike ride, Ride for Sight and Literacy offers a 10 mile, 21 mile, and 43 mile marked routes with rest and facility stops, SAG support, snacks, and lunch. The event is open to all ages and riding abilities. The event will depart and end at the Manheim Township Community Park in Lititz, PA. Registration is from 7 am to 9 am. Proceeds benefit Literacy and Rotary projects.

Lancaster Sunrise Rotary – Ride for Sight and Literacy
Choose a bicycle ride of 10, 21 or 43 miles or combine two routes for a metric century through Lancaster County farmland. Water/rest stops, SAG support, and lunch are included with your registration fee. Proceeds benefit the Literacy Council of Lancaster and Lebanon, Lancaster Sunrise Rotary’s reading skills programs and Ethiopian eye mission. Registration is between 7 am and 9 am. Event held rain or shine and helmets are recommended.
