GLORIA! a Candlelight Christmas
to
Experience the many moods of Christmas in this year's version of the Susquehanna Chorale's treasured Candlelight Christmas concert - starting with the splendor of a candlelit processional with brass and organ in Lara Hoggaard's majestic setting of the ageless "on this day," Personent Hodie. The calm, worshipful nature of Christmas is captured in Polish composer Pawel Lukaszewski's Ave Maria, another timeless text set here for high soprano voices floating over the reassuring depth of the other voices. The universal Christmas experience of yearning for what has long been promised is captured in Daniel Gawthrop's Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus - followed by the magnificence of John Rutter's Gloria for choir and brass. And of course what is the season without family, friends, and fun? The Chorale will put you in a festive mood with We Need a Little Christmas before surrounding you with its signature sound in Silent Night. Start your Christmas with the joy of song joining the brilliant sound of the trumpet as it soars from the upper reaches of Leffler Hall, Market Square Church, or Parmer Hall.
