Friday Night Concert
Friday, June 21, 2013
The Celtic Fling kicks off with a special Friday Night Concert, featuring some of our favorite performers!
Gaelic Storm
Gaelic Storm steps back into the ring with the dazzling #1 Billboard World Album Chicken Boxer, a heavyweight record that comes out swinging with a mix of empowering anthems and traditional ballads. Chicken Boxer is the fifth album to be released on the band's own label, Lost Again Records, and showcases the incomparable songwriting and accomplished musicianship of a band that has made their mark bringing fans to their feet two hundred days per year. The group's ability to deftly incorporate a rock sensibility into their sound affords them rare crossover appeal. In recent years, they've performed on the same bill with acts ranging from Zac Brown Band and the Goo Goo Dolls to Emmylou Harris and Lyle Lovett, at events as varied as the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Milwaukee's Summerfest. With their signature acoustic production, Gaelic Storm blends indie-folk and world grooves with Celtic tradition to serve up a ringside seat for fifteen rounds of pugilistic poultry pounding sound. In other words, Chicken Boxer will knock you out. Seven Nations
Seven Nations (the name refers to the seven original Celtic nations) is not your father’s Celtic band. With a passionate, tender, and rollicking style that winningly veers from roots and folk to dance and fusion-rock, Seven Nations has earned a growing reputation as an adventurous band with a charismatic stage presence. Kilmaine Saints
Long, long ago, in rural County Cumberland, located along a central river valley deep in Penn's Woods, four friends sat down to talk. To talk and plan and dream. To plan about the finest band in all the land that would play traditional Irish and Scottish music. They would also play sailing songs and brave new songs that they would write themselves. As the beer and whiskey flowed, the band became finer and louder. As the beer and whiskey ran out and the friends sobered up, they realized that perhaps being the finest band in all the land was out of reach. But, being the most heavily instrumented Celtic Rock band in Penn's Woods with the loudest cymbals was well within the realm of their individual, and combined, talents.
