Luhrs Center Old Main Drive, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania 17257
Considered to be one of America’s true legends, Liza Minnelli began her professional career at the early age of 16, in her award winning performance of the Off-Broadway revival of the musical “Best Foot Forward.” This would be only the first among many show business honors during her notable career.
Born to actress/singer Judy Garland and film director Vincente Minnelli, Liza became the youngest woman ever to win a leading actress Tony Award, at age 19, for “Flora the Red Menace.” A string of other successes followed including “Chicago,” “The Rink,” and “Victor/Victoria.”
Minnelli was also a favorite on the big screen, having appeared in “New York, New York,” “Charlie Bubbles,” “Arthur” and “The Sterile Cuckoo” — the latter winning Liza her first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Minnelli’s movie career peaked with her role as Sally Bowles in “Cabaret,” winning her an Oscar for Best Actress, a Golden Globe, and a British Film Academy Award. In all, Minnelli has won four Tony Awards, an Oscar, a special “Legends” Grammy, two Golden Globe Awards and an Emmy.
Most recently, Minnelli released “Confessions,” which was recorded with her longtime collaborator pianist Billy Stritch. Liza has never stopped touring and has long been considered one of the most exciting concert performers, electrifying audiences around the world with her dazzling and memorable performances.
