The Theme: A romantic boho-chic evening wedding with rustic charm. The Details: An unforgettable Lillian West bridal gown with lace bodice, sheer back, and buttons. The bridesmaids in rose quartz, the men in white shirts, no jackets, and bow ties. An Israeli ruscus circlet around the cake, with florals by the women of the family. Succulents as favors. A rosette-swirled cake…well, three cakes and three kinds of cupcakes, plus pies and macarons. The couple never leaves a restaurant without getting dessert: “It’s very serious.” The Proposals: The first date, (second) proposal, and engagement photos were in Caledonia State Park. Mitch blindfolded Stephanie and drove her there (in a snowstorm) in his truck. A few seconds at the frozen lake were enough for a yes. A wedding day video reveals a waterfall at the same spot. The Plan: Plans to elope at Yosemite were scratched when Mitch’s mother became ill. Thankfully, his mother made it to the wedding. The Find: Local cuisine–pork belly BLT skewers and strawberry rhubarb gazpacho; lemon thyme chicken confit and wood-smoked beef brisket; whipped lavender honey butter and rosemary honey, made from bees on the farm. The Hitch: A friend traveled three hours to pull the groom’s gift off a FedEx truck: a compass, inscribed, “I’d be lost without you” (they got lost on their first date). The ’Moon: an eco-friendly treehouse in Tulum, lit only by candlelight; swimming in hidden cenotes (natural sunken swimming holes), once near an alligator.
