THE THEME:
Country chic DIY, with rustic and vintage elements, lace and peach, mint and ivory touches. With no back-up rain plan, the couple hoped for good weather, and they got it: sunny and 70 degrees. The barn at The Farm at Eagles Ridge made a perfect backdrop for this outdoor event, with guests playing croquet and tossing bean bags. A whole roasted pig with buckets of corn on the cob, and vintage Converse sneakers for the guys, set a casual, country feel that let everyone relax and enjoy the day.
THE DETAILS:
A scrollwork motif played throughout, from the arbor to the cake and flower-filled shepherd’s hooks. The bridesmaids wore a charming mix of sashed dresses, with varied bouquets and mint-green jewelry, while the guys sported mint ties and variations on khaki. Lacy handmade items were mingled with Mason jars, milk jugs, frames and classic books. Names were twined onto vintage keys and hung on chicken wire, and upscaled nicely with elegant tablecloths, draperies and chandeliers. Family ties included Megan’s vintage bird-cage veil, which was her mother’s, a photo of her grandfather that swung from her hand-tied bouquet and her mint-bow-tied son, Kyle, as ring bearer. Megan’s lace-over-charmeuse dress, with crystal beading, pearls, satin flowers and a stunning keyhole back, was picture perfect.
THE SURPRISE:
Megan invited her bridesmaids via handcrafted “be my maid” boxes. She mailed them, inserting prose about each attendant and a handmade burlap bag with cloth flowers and pictures of vintage dresses.
THE HIT:
loaded dessert bar meant there was a lot of wedding cake to bring home, with Aunt Kim’s blueberry pie, chocolate spoon cake, Bourbon Street pecan pie, toffee crunch almond blondies, brownies for the groom and more.
THE GETAWAY:
A New England honeymoon, with stops in Newport, at bed and breakfasts in Maine, and, naturally, lobster!
