THE THEME
Vintage meets Victorian, with neutral tones, lace, heirlooms…and foxes. With parasols suspended overhead, family wedding gowns and cake toppers on display, and antique props, this wedding stepped back in time to a gentler era. Whimsical touches included green wedding shoes, green mums on the cake, and colorful pompoms thrown in lieu of rice. A faith-centered ceremony conducted by Paul’s father involved both families in a group prayer. Eight bridesmaids, seven groomsmen and six kids made for an impressive group shot.
THE RELATIONSHIP
On their first “accidental” date, they were the only ones to show up for a planned gathering with friends from Messiah College. That night, Andrea told Paul she was leaving for Greece for two years to work with a nonprofit. Paul figured if they “could make it work with that kind of distance, there was no way we weren’t meant for each other.” The two Skyped every night.
THE DETAILS
Rustic, like the 1866 Country Barn, with its cobblestone walk and hand-hewn farm tables, along with handmade items like the birch houpa built by Andrea’s father, wooden centerpieces carved by Paul’s dad, and swagged bunting. Copper kettles and other objects were arranged tastefully, and the reception featured farm-raised cuisine, a hayride and a bonfire. Photos of the bride or groom as children marked the pews, and a “Here Comes the Bride” banner announced her entrance. A fun fox motif began with the cake toppers, and showing up on the invite and among the photo booth props. A video filled the moments before the ceremony with the couple’s story.
THE THREADS
The bride’s re-embroidered lace gown, with its empire waist and classic silhouette, contrasted nicely with the trendy slim-fit suit her groom wore, with his slightly looser tie and non-traditional boots. Subtle neutrals, from champagne to blush, were represented by the bridesmaids, who went “completely rogue,” picking four or five dresses, and wearing a second to the rehearsal dinner.
