Depending on your stage of life, you may have a ton of weddings each year, or maybe just a couple. My husband and I are at the point where we don't have too many to attend anymore (everyone is now having babies), which kind of bums me out a little (best year ever: seven total weddings). As expensive as they can be, as a member of the bridal party or just as a guest, they are a great time
Determining what to wear can be a daunting task: What’s the weather going to be like? Is it indoor or outdoor? What is appropriate to wear?
I've rounded up a few wedding looks for each season of the year. They are easy to transition, and can possibly be worn more than once.
I love this fall wedding dress. It's not something I would typically purchase, but every once in a while a little splurge is nice. This would also work well for a winter wedding. Toss on a blazer over the dress for some extra warmth, and maybe some thicker, opaque tights and you'll be good to go.
Again, this dress can easily be worn in other seasons. For a winter wedding, though, it’s as simple as tossing a sequin blazer and thicker tights for the warmth factor, but you can still move and dance in it.
Springtime can be an iffy time to get married when it comes to the weather (it rained the day of my spring wedding). Choosing something lightweight, preferably something that you can easily throw a cardigan over, would be ideal. This is the season I like to wear a lot of color; a pop of color stands out among the sea of standard black dresses at weddings. Like the other dresses I chose, this also would be easy to transition into other seasons by adding tights or layering.
Summer is such a great time for a wedding; you don't have to fuss with tights, jackets or sweaters. This dress is ideal to dress down with simple, flat gladiator sandals and a denim jacket. I love to get more bang for my buck!
OK, so here is the wedding attire rundown:
-Purchase a dress that you can transition season to season.
-Changing the type of tights (sheer to opaque) is an easy transition.
-It's OK to splurge every once in a while on a nice dress you know you will wear more than once
-If you do decide to splurge on a dress, changing the accessories each time you wear it can give you the "just new" feeling (and it saves money).
-Don't be afraid to sport something bright or even printed to a wedding.
Don't want to spend much money? Shop your closet (or a friend's closet). You'll be surprised at what you can find. Similar to a "splurge" purchase, you can change the accessories, or even purchase a new statement necklace and create a whole new look.
