This year marks the 50th anniversary of Lancaster County Motors Subaru! As we look back and celebrate 50 years of serving the community, we are proud to be one of the most trusted and successful Subaru dealerships in the northeast. Subaru vehicles are more popular than ever with our Central Pennsylvania customers. Let’s look back at our history, how we serve the community through our charity initiatives, and look towards the future.

The History of LCM Subaru
The origin of Lancaster County Motors dates all the way back to 1935, when the family-owned business first acquired the Packard, Studebaker, and MG franchises for the Lancaster area. In 1957, they were awarded the area’s first Mercedes-Benz franchise for Mercedes-Benz of Lancaster, which was located for many years at 426 North Prince Street in Lancaster City.
Just 15 years later in 1972, Lancaster County Motors acquired the Subaru franchise for the area, which was also located on North Prince Street in downtown Lancaster. Many of our customers fondly remember this original location for our Subaru dealership. In years past at this downtown Lancaster location, they may have purchased a Subaru DL Sport Coupe, which was billed as “The Economy Car for Today’s Economy” in the ’70s.
In 1980, the dealerships expanded and relocated to Manheim Pike in East Petersburg. This building now houses the Lancaster Hyundai dealership, part of the Lancaster County Motors family of dealerships.
More recently, the Lancaster County Motors Subaru dealership expanded again, moving to a brand-new building at 1705 Manheim Pike, at the corner of Manheim Pike and Delp Road. This new facility for LCM Subaru is the largest Subaru facility in the area, with 27 service lifts, a convenient 4-lane service entry area, and ultra-modern tools and equipment to provide top-notch service to customers. Tens of thousands of Subaru owners trust LCM Subaru to keep their vehicles in peak condition, year after year.

Serving the Community
LCM Subaru is proud to “Share The Love” to help our community. Recently, we were honored to receive the Subaru Love Promise Customer & Community Commitment Award, which is a national award recognizing Subaru dealerships that are most impactful in their local community.
During the holiday season, LCM Subaru participates in Subaru’s Share The Love Event. During this event, Subaru donates to a variety of important charities for every new vehicle sold. Over the years, the Share The Love Event has generated more than $200 million for national and local charities. Recent local charities that have been impacted by this program include A Week Away, Meals on Wheels of Lancaster County, and the United Way of Lancaster County.
Looking to the Future
LCM Subaru is excited for the next 50 years and beyond. Later this year, we will debut Subaru’s first all-electric vehicle, the Solterra. The Solterra is the first all-wheel drive electric vehicle to feature Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, found in all Subaru vehicles. The groundbreaking zero-emissions Solterra offers next-generation features inside and out, and we’re excited for this new vehicle to arrive later this year.
In addition, Subaru’s lineup of quality vehicles continues to keep our customers happy and safe. The Ascent is quickly becoming Lancaster’s favorite SUV, with its roomy 3 rows of space and family-friendly features. The Outback Wilderness and Forester Wilderness models are foraging new frontiers in outdoor adventures. And for the performance-lovers out there, it’s hard to beat the finely-tuned performance of the Subaru WRX and BRZ models.
