Those of us who have experienced a complex health issue know that it’s essential to see a specialist to treat that condition. Likewise, the service staff at a car dealership, including the LCM Subaru team, are specialists for your specific car. The technicians at LCM Subaru are experts for your Subaru. They undergo rigorous factory training, and have built a wealth of knowledge about the complete lineup of Subaru vehicles. They know the systems inside and out, as well as common warning signs to prevent future issues.
Recently, we sat down with LCM Subaru’s Ross Rodruan, Service Director, and Pat Bonner, Shop Foreman, to learn more about summer driving, and the importance of letting a specialist take care of your vehicle.
Why is it important to bring your vehicle in for service on a regular basis?
The specialists at your dealer know your car best, and can help you to keep up with the little things on your car. "In addition to oil changes and other routine maintenance, our technicians check on all systems of your car, ensuring it is safe to be driven,” said Pat Bonner, LCM Subaru Shop Foreman. “We like to make sure your car is in the best condition possible.”
For example, an advantage of having your vehicle serviced at a dealership is the training the technicians receive for what makes that brand unique. Pat said, “We are experts in our knowledge of the Subaru BOXER engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.” One of your most important investments is your vehicle, and keeping it properly maintained helps to protect your family and keep it running for years to come.
Why is proper tire inflation important in the summer months?
“Air expands with heat, which can cause overinflation of your tires,” said Ross. Proper inflation of your tires is “critical to maintain tread wear and grip characteristics of your tires.” Amazingly, “the actual amount of tire in contact with the road is about the size of your hand. With such a small amount keeping the car on track, proper tire inflation and condition becomes critical,” said Ross. As the weather gets warmer, you should monitor your tire pressure and make sure it is at the proper inflation to allow for expansion and maximize the amount of the tire that is in contact with the road. “Our service team checks your tire pressure as a part of our LCM Subaru multi-point inspection that is done every time you bring your vehicle in for service,” said Pat.
Why is all-wheel drive an important feature?
When considering a vehicle, many buyers can question the benefit of all-wheel drive. Perhaps they primarily drive in the city, or don’t often drive in winter weather conditions. Is all-wheel drive really essential?
The short answer from Ross is yes. “All-wheel drive is essential for safety, no matter your driving conditions,” said Ross. All-wheel drive vehicles offer significant safety benefits to all drivers, year-round, in the city and on the highway. “All-wheel drive is an active system that continuously adjusts for varying road conditions, from winter snow and ice to a rainy summer day,” shared Ross. “Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive technology adjusts on the fly to allow you to maintain control of your vehicle. It puts power to the wheels that grip, to make up for the wheels that slip."
More than ever, it’s important to keep your car maintained in top condition. Your vehicle is an intricate, complex system that needs proper care.
