Erika Firestone has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Temple University and a Masters of Science in Human Rights and International Politics from the University of Glasgow, located in the United Kingdom. Throughout her time living in Scotland, Erika interned at OXFAM Great Britain and Humanity Unified – an opportunity that led to field work in Kigali, Rwanda. Upon returning to the U.S., Erika worked for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Legislative Assistant before taking a position as an International Student Coordinator at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. She is currently pursuing her final degree, a Juris Doctor, at Widener Commonwealth Law.

Writing has always been one of her passions. From meeting so many interesting people through interviews to putting her conversations and experiences into words, she finds the process of story-telling inspiring. In addition to Susquehanna Style, she has written for sources such as The Burg, Her Campus, Highway 81 Revisited and The Weekender while covering a range of topics like arts & culture, music, and food.

Erika loves living in the Susquehanna Valley. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, trying new restaurants, and hiking the beautiful trails the region has to offer such as Hawk Rock and sections of the Appalachian trail. She has visited 28 countries and looks forward to seeing many more. She equally loves staying home with her partner to take care of their goats, cats, and 18 chickens.
