An original Louis Ghost chair by Phillippe Starck is an example of how Heisler believes mixing old and new is timeless. This is one of two chairs that have found homes in various locations throughout her house. She currently keeps this one beside her vanity table.

Heisler loves the heavy feel and perfect roundness of the crystal balls. They reflect light and magnify everything around them. “Of course, the ‘look into my crystal ball’ imagery is whimsical and appealing as well,” she says with a laugh.

This “book” is from an art collection by Seoul, Korea, artist Airan King. It is a social commentary on how books will be electronic in the future. “I love how the light changes color,” says Heisler. “One day, it looks like a book, the next day it is a mood light subtly changing colors.”

This artwork of Marilyn Monroe was a card sent to Heisler by a friend. She framed the card and hung it outside her office. “So decorative items,” she explains, “can come from many sources, even a greeting card.”

“Todd Oldham perfume is my all-time favorite,” says Heisler. She believes scent is a very important element in a house. “Wonderful smells inspire me,” she says.

This unique ring caught Heisler’s eye at a furniture show in North Carolina. “When I look at this ring it is as if I’m looking into the depths of the universe,” she says. “I love how it sparkles.”

Henrietta Heisler has had this elephant since she was a child. “I’m obsessed with elephants,” she says. This one was a cigarette holder, and used to be purple until she repainted it blue to fit into her living room décor. Heisler believes everyone should have an elephant in their house as they are said to bring good luck.

I think everyone should have at least one thing in their home that is exclusively theirs,” says Heisler. She was inspired to design this custom rug by a fabric she had picked out for a client.
