Originally from Bucharest, Romania, Carmina Cristina came to the United States with a love for make-up and artistry. She translated these passions into her professional make-up business, building a name for herself both in the commercial and bridal make-up spheres. Two years ago she started development on her own line of products, an accomplishment that she hopes will benefit both her business and her clients.
Her line, now available in her Harrisburg studio and set to debut in two months on her website, consists of ten products that Cristina developed herself, including a set of twelve lip gloss shades, lip liners, eyebrow definers, mascara and a lash primer designed to thicken and add texture to eye lashes. Every item was created to address existing problems of Cristina’s clients.
“I talk to my clients all the time and try to understand their concerns and how to help them,” Cristina said, and one of the largest problems was a need for a high-quality make-up line that was affordable and, most importantly, easy to use.
“Every single product caters to a specific need,” Cristina said, such as her solutions for dark under-eye circles and sparse eyebrows. To simplify morning routines, many of Cristina’s products also have multiple uses, such as her foundation, which acts as a primer, sunscreen and a traditional foundation.
“The product will do multiple things for you,” Cristina said.
Though Cristina’s make-up bag for work contains high-caliber brands such MAC, Nars and Chanel, these products are usually not readily available to her clients for daily use and, if they are, often do not come with instructions on how to use them. Since Cristina developed her own line, she is now able to offer her clients both the products and the advice that goes along with them.
“Some [expensive lines] are good products, but you don’t know to use them, and this product will come with all the education,” Cristina said. “I wanted to create a product that is quality and easy to use.”
Cristina hopes that her new make-up line will give her clients the opportunity to feel professionally made-up every day with a routine that is both simple and fast.
“It’s definitely a great help for my clients,” Cristina said. “They can achieve the same effect I give them when they come to see me at home.”
