NATIVE PLANTS FOR WINTER INTEREST AND WILDLIFE

When most people think of a garden,they imagine either spring bringing new blooms or the robust colors of summer. But winter can also be a time to engage with the garden as well, enjoying intricate seed remnants that can also provide for the local wildlife, like the birds and the bees. Feel free to bring garden measurements, as the instructor can help map out and select natives appropriate for each individual's given space.

DESSERT WEEK

Check out some sweets with a sweetie, a best friend, or by yourself during Dessert Week in Downtown Lebanon. Starting February 10th, visit designated restaurants from the Dessert Week map (complete with description, picture, and location!) to sample some new gastronomic goodies at a discount. Stop by for dessert alone, or try a new restaurant and be sure to save room.

MAPLE SUGARING
February 23-24; March 1
Anyone who's ever enjoyed maple syrup with breakfast knows pancakes and waffles just wouldn't be the same without it. Now the public is invited to come and watch as naturalists take the famous sappy topper from tree to final product during the annual event with multiple educational stations. Three free days are offered, but anyone wishing for a private group program can call and schedule.

CHOCOLATE-COVERED FEBRUARY

Chocolate desserts will not be the only thing enrobed in cocoa during the month of February in Hershey. Massages and facials are also on the plate for anyone looking to shake the final winter doldrums. Delight all five senses while partaking in over 90 events around town, including stays at Hershey Lodge or Hotel Hershey, and even camping (s'mores!). Some events include wine and chocolate pairings, dessert buffets, and a parade.

AUTHOR TALKS AT MIDTOWN SCHOLAR

Always keen to present diverse speakers with teachable, yet engaging and informative, voices, the Midtown Scholar Bookstore presents three different authors and their books during February, each with a different tale to tell. First is David W. Blight, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography Frederick Douglass. Following is Franchise: The Golden Arches in Black America, by Marcia Chatelain. Lastly, Emma Copley Eisenberg's The Third Rainbow: The Long Life of a Double Murder in Appalachia.

GETTYSBURG ROCKS
February 7-9
The only thing better than rocking out to bands is helping kids while doing it. At its bi-annual event, Gettysburg Rocks spans three days at multiple venues with over 100 bands to benefit the Four Diamonds charity. Since 2014 the event has brought in over $166,000. Get a groove on and benefit kids along the way!
