This Brewery’s Back!
In the years of wagon wheels rumbling over cobblestone streets, a brewing company opened its doors in Lancaster. During 103 years of crafting unforgettable beer and developing a business, the company drove Lancaster to earn the title of “brewing capital of the United States.” Unfortunately, the doors were closed in 1956 when big-shot breweries from the Midwest built the competition too high. Now, when cobblestone is seldom seen outside historic towns and wagon wheels are only displayed in antique shops, Wacker Brewing Co. has been reborn. Still holding fort in Lancaster, the brewery creates various types of beer that locals adore. It is open on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for tastings, tours, and growler fills. Their custom growlers are embossed with the Wacker name and can be topped off with a handcrafted brew like Little Dutch Dunkel or Wacker Beer. After a 60-year break, Wacker Brewing Co. is spiking the brewery scene with some Lancaster historical charm.

Cigar Lounge Roundup
Lancaster is the latest Central PA spot to welcome a cigar bar to its list of lounges. Daniel Falcon opened Lancaster Cigar Bar as an aficionado’s go-to for enjoying a quality cigar, a cocktail, and gourmet food. This is the hang-out that guys dream of, the escape to relaxation. Other local shops have created a similar atmosphere with the same goal: sit back, sip, smoke. The Red Rose City is also home to Cigars Cigars. Hain’s Pipe and Cigar Shop rests on George Street in York, and The Tobacco Company is a favorite in both Lemoyne and Hershey. Clearly, there are enough plush leather chairs, big screen TVs, and whiskey-filled tumblers for all of the Susquehanna Valley. And we are not complaining.

A Boutique for the Boys,Too
Around Valentine’s Day, downtown York’s Beaver Street is lit up with stores showing off red dresses and elegant necklaces in their windows. Local women love it, but isn’t it time to spread some love in the men’s direction? For this reason, Kimman’s recently began carrying items aimed specifically toward the male taste. The change has been in the works for some time; Kimman’s customers have been asking owner Caroline Morris for years when her men’s line is coming. She is happy to announce her addition of the collection, fulfilling the wishes of her male clientele. The shop includes fashionable accessories like bow ties and watches, as well as practical necessities such as tools, shaving products, and bike repair kits. For thirsty shoppers, there are also growlers and unique coolers that will tote beverages in style. Finally, February 14 is made easier with a boutique that satisfies both sides.

Community Corner
As the economy progresses forward from the recession, many men are transitioning back into the working world. This change can be very difficult for those who have struggled with job loss or poverty in the past. One local program is eager to support, encourage, and prepare men for their journey to professionalism. Tied to Success is one branch of Suits to Career, Inc. in Harrisburg, which assists men with professional suiting and career counseling. Launched in September 2014, this non-profit program has helped many locals, including veterans and those enduring homelessness, by arming them with the skills and style necessary for the first interview, first impression, and first step into success. Roberto Vassi, an established shoe designer, has also partnered with the program as a fashion affiliate. You can help out by volunteering as a personal shopper or donating items such as shoes, hats, and personal care items to a partnering donation drop-off point like Classic Drycleaners and Laundromats. To learn more, visit the Tied to Success website.
