Indulge in all the pop songs you hate to love Sept. 14
Prima Theatre's "Guilty Pleasures" is group therapy for pop culture addicts.
The show opens as a therapy group begins to share their "addictions," which quickly turns to a hilarious, sing-and-clap-along production of mashed up pop hits - from New Kids on the Block and Lady Gaga to Queen and Disney hits. There's something for everyone in this collection of songs you secretly hate to love.
I'll confess, my husband and I love a good rock ballad like anything by Journey and other 80's hits, but I was blushing at my forgotten fondness of more recent songs like "Golddigger" performed by the Costco-shopping-mom character I could totally identify with! I don't think my husband reads the Style Girls blog, so I can out him on his love of "Let it Go" which he sings with our 2-year-old daughter. You won't believe which character in the cast secretly loves Disney songs!
Ray Hilton and Daniel Stargel's performances were my personal favorites - both funny and perfectly executed - and the rest of the cast rocked it with pure talent. I don't know what took us so long to discover this Lancaster treasure, but we'll be back for more - we're addicted!
Hurry and grab your tickets in the last chance to see this show next Sunday, Sept 14, 7:00 p.m. at Michael's Motorcars, a unique theatre setting among classic dream cars! Save room for dessert - concessions include more "Guilty Pleasures" like Nutella, Oreos and Yoo-hoo.
