As its name suggests, Warehouse Gourmet offers the best of both worlds. Housed in a historic warehouse building in Hanover with cozy nooks and a casual industrial vibe, the restaurant is one part unpretentious atmosphere and one part gourmet eatery. And the ambiance isn’t the only element of this restaurant doing double duty. The upper level of the intimate bistro houses a remarkably small area to brew not a few, but eight rotating craft beers, providing a beverage to pair with menu items of every flavor complexity. Take their stir-fried duck breast, for example. To pack in the flavor, the duck’s fat is reserved during preparation and then used later to stir-fry thin slices of breast, snow peas, broccoli and julienned squash. The duck fat, along with a powerful blend of spices, provides richness and depth of flavor. More subtle essences are not ignored, however. Noodles boiled in chai tea, which infuses them with a delicate aroma, create the base of the dish. Accompany this entrée with a pale, crisp beer, like Leggy Blonde, an imperial blonde ale with 7.4 percent ABV.
