PRESS RELEASE:
BALD GIRLS DO LUNCH® COMES TO PENNSYLVANIA
First-Ever Visit a “Dream Come True” for Harrisburg Woman with Alopecia
Scarborough, NY (November 23, 2013) – Bald Girls Do Lunch®, an award-winning nonprofit that brings women with alopecia together, is coming to the Harrisburg, PA area for the first time on December 20, 2013. Women with alopecia areata and their friends are invited to RSVP for a dinner event at Sophia’s at Walden, Mechanicsburg, PA.
“For someone like me who has had alopecia areata since high school, this is like a dream come true,” said Anne Kennard of Harrisburg. “I am thrilled to finally meet others like myself and share the strength that I have gained through this disease.”
Bald Girls, a recent winner of the prestigious 2013 Top-Rated Nonprofits Award, is committed to improving quality of life for women with alopecia. The purpose of their events is to give women a chance to connect, refresh their style, and learn how to talk about alopecia at work, at school or when dating. Attendees will also get useful tips on makeup, hair care and wig care.
“In this holiday season, women with alopecia have more questions than ever about how to open up about their condition to friends and family,” said Thea Chassin, founder and president of Bald Girls. “Women 16 and older, with all stages and forms of the disease, are welcome to attend our events. Friends are also welcome at the Harrisburg event.”
Unlike similar organizations, Bald Girls’ emphasis is on providing practical, real-life solutions to the challenges of living with alopecia. The Top-Rated Award given by GreatNonprofits.org, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations, is testament to the success of this approach.
“With the right tools and support, you can live well with alopecia,” said Chassin. “But despite our name, bald is never required. Our events are always a mix of bald, wigs, hats, scarves — whatever. Feeling comfortable is the key.”
Reservations for events are required. For payment information and to RSVP contact info@baldgirlsdolunch.org or call 800.578.5332.
