What if following your convictions
meant paying serious consequences?
In his most recent book, Beautiful Souls: Saying No, Breaking Ranks, and Heeding the Voice of Conscience in Dark Times (2012), journalist Eyal Press examines the lives of four ordinary people who, when faced with an ethical decision, followed their conscience and ultimately paid serious personal prices for doing the “right” thing.
Well-known for his stories about politics and social issues, Press is a contributing writer to Nation, and his essays, reviews and feature stories have appeared in publications such as the New York Review of Books, The New York Times, and the Atlantic Monthly.
His first book, Absolute Convictions, was published in 2006. Press was also a Schwartz Fellow at the New America Foundation from 2009 to 2011.
