Intro to Relief Printmaking
to
Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen North Queen Street, Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17603
Before there were copy machines, there were printmakers. These artists created reproducible images by carving wood, etching metal, or pushing ink through screens. And they’re still at work today, using a huge variety of modern materials and techniques to create artwork.
This class will give you hands-on experience with relief printmaking – the process of carving into wood or linoleum, putting ink on the remaining raised surface, and making multiple copies of the image. You will make artwork in a single color, then test out what it takes to print multiple colors the old-fashioned way.
