Registration is now open for the tenth annual Garden Spot Village Marathon and Half Marathon, hosted by Garden Spot Village in New Holland, Pa. The race begins on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 8 a.m.
The event features USA Track & Field-certified Boston Marathon-qualifier 26.2-mile marathon and 13.1-mile half-marathon courses, which begin and end on the 104-acre campus of Garden Spot Village, a retirement community in Lancaster County, Pa. The course winds through the scenic Amish farmlands at the foot of the Welsh Mountain before looping back to the campus at 433 S. Kinzer Ave. in New Holland. Water stops and Porta-Johns are located every two miles along the route, and all participants have access to the resort-style community’s showers, pool and hot tub after the race.
Runners who complete the Garden Spot Village Marathon or Half-Marathon as well as the Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon in the same calendar year receive the coveted Road Apple Award, which is unique to Lancaster County, Pa.
Proceeds from the Garden Spot Village Marathon and Half Marathon benefit the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund.
