Learn how to navigate today’s major social media channels; select the “best fits” to showcase your arts/crafts; and enjoy connecting with friends, colleagues and/or customers. All sessions will address both personal and professional social media use, with tips customized towards artists/craftsmen.
Session 1 includes an overview of social media and its visual aspects including how to utilize Pinterest and Instagram. Session 2 addresses the many benefits and how-to’s of using Facebook for your business. Both Twitter and LinkedIn—social media with a professional touch—are explained in Session 3. The series concludes with WordPress in Session 4, instructing students on blogging and/or setting up a customized website
Karen Hendricks demonstrates a love of writing and communicating in all she does; it’s the common thread linking all of her current and past experiences. Currently, she manages her own communications firm, Hendricks Communications, providing compelling public relations, marketing, freelance writing and photography services to her clients. She secured international marketing awards for her work with The Gettysburg Festival, 2008-2011, including a creative radio spot featuring James Earl Jones and progressive marketing campaigns utilizing brand-new social media channels and beautifully-designed enewsletters. The Gettysburg Festival was a special project founded by Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell. The foundation of Karen’s career included nearly 20 years of award-winning experience in broadcast media including positions at WGAL-TV, WHTM-TV and WGTY/WGET Radio. She earned a BA in Communications/Media Studies from Lock Haven University. A Philadelphia native, she currently lives in Gettysburg with her husband and three children.
