THEIR LOVE STORY
I first met Victoria through a networking group called Young Professionals of Color – Greater Harrisburg. She stood out to me in a way I couldn’t quite put my finger on, but since I was new to the group I just stayed back and waited to get to know everyone more. Toward the end of 2017, she made a quick appearance at a Christmas party I was at and I asked her out for dinner, not as a date but just to get to know her better.
After a series of get togethers over the next two months, especially with us sharing a birthday month, we were able to get closer and get to know each other more. On my birthday after hanging out with Victoria, I decided to make my growing feelings known at the end of the evening before we went our separate ways. I wanted to let her know that I was interested before I potentially waited too long and the door closed. Fortunately for me she was also interested, and here we are!

THEIR INSPIRATION
The wedding was actually a compromise. I was happy with a courthouse ceremony and a long honeymoon but Michael wanted a special day with all the friends and family that got him to this point. I can’t argue with that so we agreed on a small wedding of 50 and I had creative control. When my late Godmother got married a few years ago, she wore her favorite color purple and everyone else wore white. I loved that. I love how orange looks on my skin. Wearing orange while everyone wore white was a homage to my late Godmother, Charisse Blackwell.

THEIR FAVORITE PART
Victoria
My favorite part is seeing my vision come to life. All of our guests and vendors wore white with yellow, red, and orange accessories. Reves Etheres did a great job with the floral designs and everything and everyone was visually and aesthetically stunning! My arts degree was put to great use for that day!
Michael
Being able to celebrate our union with the people who were closest to us. It was a great time with great energy and great people, and everyone stepped up and made sure we were taken care of if we needed anything throughout the night!

THEIR ADVICE
Ultimately, remember that the wedding day is about celebrating your union with your significant other. It’s not about pleasing others or throwing the perfect party. Everyone else is just a spectator. So make the wedding what you want!
