THE THEME
Ethereal and romantic, this late winter wedding shone in the rich textures of the Cork Factory Ballroom. The gleaming wood aisle was defined by white rose petals, candles in glass cylinders, and sprays of white orchids, and the tastefully muted palette was flecked with oyster and pale peach. A cherished oak tree motif, symbolizing “strength, roots, beauty, wisdom and most important, family,” was woven into this heartfelt gathering.
THE THREADS
A vintage strapless dress, ivory lace overlaid on white, was enhanced by a cathedral veil, a fabulous furry shrug, and a sash with satin roses, rhinestones and wispy ostrich feathers. The bridesmaids’ matching shrugs were worn over full-length grey chiffons with mini trains. Setting them off perfectly were men in black and a flower girl in a ruffly white dress with a black shrug and tights.
THE BLOOMS
Cascading white blooms in tall glass vases. A hand-tied clutch bouquet of pale peach roses. Fringe tulips, ranunculus and roses, white quince branches draped with crystals, and a flower girl’s bouquet of white anemones. The standout men’s buttonholes (guinea feathers, grey brunia berries, and ranunculus) were a nod to Lindsey’s “outdoorsy” father and groom.
THE DETAILS
“These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you…” so went the reading, followed by “All my heart, all my love, all my life” and original vows. Sign-able river rocks stood in for a guest book, and repurposed slate from the roof of an old family barn posed as table numbers. Lindsey and her mom picked peaches, asking her grandmother to lead a marathon jam-making session. Canning jars—178 of them filled with strawberry and peach preserves—were labeled “Spread the Love.” Mason jars with sand and tea lights lined the steps to the ceremony, and a nephew carried a “Here Comes the Bride” banner.
