THE THEME:
They met in the city. They run a business in the city. They love the city (Twitter hashtag: #ILYCWeddings). An iconic York City wedding, it was held in the Cherry Lane courtyard and the Yorktowne Hotel. The coolest urban detail? Mayor Kim Bracey performed the ceremony.
THE FIND:
The dress, no contest. A wrap-style gown with soft charmeuse fabric and stunning details (note the low sweep in the back that reveals a chic beaded t-strap).
THE RELATIONSHIP:
Evan began buying granola seconds at Sarah’s market stand, and soon he was helping her bag the snacks. Eventually, he quit his job to work full-time at Nuts About Granola. This couple is seriously into exercise, but separately, since Evan is speedier; his regime includes parachuting with the Army National Guard. Sarah is laid-back, if you don’t count the 100 triathlons she’s done, declining to see the bridemaids’ dresses until the day of the wedding.
THE DETAILS:
Sustainable. Vegan, with plant-based cuisine like grilled vegetable Napoleon, dairy- and gluten-free options and a secretly vegan cake. For these wine-lovers, corks held names and table numbers designed by the bride’s sister, and personalized coasters and wine glasses were given as favors. Sarah’s father’s band, 3 Dollar Suit, provided alternative folk tunes. The rings, family heirlooms, were passed through the hands of relatives in a “warming of the rings,” collecting blessings and wishes. The favors? Easy. Granola.
THE GETAWAY:
A bicycle rickshaw ride was a surprise to Sarah, but it fit these avid cyclers’ goal: carbon-neutral transport. As the only full-time employees at Nuts About Granola, they had to wait to celebrate. Later, a friend’s Punta Cana wedding provided an instant honeymoon.
