Purge to Pack
- Schedule your first decluttering session as soon as you meet with your realtor.
- Pick a time of day where you have the most energy and start with twenty minutes or two hours!
- Plan to work a little every day and make sure you’re stocked up on cardboard boxes and contractor bags.
- Put on your yoga pants, grab a water bottle and turn on some energizing music and take one room at a time.
- You can start small with drawers, cabinets, and closets, and work your way up to whole rooms or categories (like papers, sentimental items, clothing, etc…).
- Set up stations for giveaway, sell, trash, and keep.
Move-in Day
- Pack an overnight bag!
- Set up your bedroom, kitchen and bathroom as soon as you’re in the new place.
- You are going to be hungry and tired at the end of move-in day, so make sure you’re prepared with a cozy, made-up bed to fall into.
- Place categorized boxes where you will use the contents.
- Ex: Spices, pots, and pans near stove. Bakeware near oven, drinking glasses near sink, etc…
- Once you start unpacking your boxes, you can adjust specific placement as you go.
- Keep a running list of materials and products you’ll need as you unbox.
- Ex: a gold hook for your robe in the closet, 6 large food bins for pantry, cleaning products for extra bathrooms, etc…
