If you are anything like me, the first thing you do when you get home is take off all of your jewelry and change into comfortable clothes. I feel sorry for my husband, because there are some days where he gets home after I do. By the time he makes it through the door, I am already in my yoga pants (that I wear for lounging and sleeping, not yoga) and oversized t-shirt.
Over time, with any clothing, you get tired of wearing the same thing over and over. It gets old, worn-in (although sometimes those are the best clothes) and less flattering. And as much as we as a society say our looks shouldn’t matter as much as what is on the inside, I feel better about myself and get more accomplished when I am ‘put together.’ That applies to when I am home too! I find when I stay in my pajamas I am lazier; cleaning doesn’t get done, emails don’t get answered and makeup doesn’t get applied.
With these thoughts in mind, I went on a mission to round up some stylish and wallet-friendly loungewear.
I found a few loungewear staples that are great to wear at home and give you the comfortable, not sloppy, look: leggings, open cardigan/sweater, crew sweatshirts and graphic tees. What you will not see: matching velour tracksuits.
The great thing about a lot of these pieces is that they are all pretty neutral. Mixing and matching them is a breeze, which gives you more versatility and more wear. It’s fun to add a bold print or a bright piece to your loungewear, but neutrals are really the way to go. You will definitely get your money’s worth. Happy lounging!
