3 Bike Rides to Take This Summer
The Susquehanna Valley could be called a bike-riding mecca, with rolling hills, lesser-traveled country roads and scenic landscapes; it’s a great place to get your ride on. Not only is biking good for your health (and better for your joints than running and walking) it’s a great activity for families to do together. Here are three bike rides to take this summer. -KW
Lebanon Valley Rail Trail
Rail Trails, such as the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail (LVRT) are abandoned railways that have been converted into multi-use paths for runners, walkers and cyclists. They’re great for those who want to ride without having to worry about traffic, especially when young cyclists are in tow—perfect for an easy weekend ride. The Lebanon Valley Rail Trail was created from the former Cornwall-Lebanon Railroad and travels through a number of historic areas. At 14 ½ miles long, it stretches from Chestnut Street, Lebanon, to the Conewago Trail at the Lancaster/Lebanon county line. Beginning in Lebanon, hop on and ride to Cornwall where you can take a break at The Root Beer Barrel. If you’re feeling up to it, continue all the way to Mt. Gretna. -KW

Slow Rides take place every 4th Friday of the month and begin at 7 p.m. Be sure to arrive around 6:30 p.m. to receive directions on the evening’s route. -KW
Covered Bridge Bike Tour
