Beer Off the Beaten Path
A relaxed atmosphere is the heart of Millersville’s newest beer stop—just a jaunt off the beaten path—Bert’s Bottle Shop. Bert’s boasts over 400 bottled and canned beer varieties and a rotating draft list of 15 beers on tap, plus wine, cocktails and special events with featured breweries. Besides the beer, Bert’s is perhaps best known for its Aussie meat pies and Cornish pasties not found anywhere else in the area. Pretzels, sausage rolls, gourmet cheeses, charcuterie and even vegan curry dishes and dessert round out the menu at this friendly local favorite.

Changing Face
Susquehanna Beauty, a division of Beautycounter, is looking to make a change by taking both performance and ingredient safety to new levels with their line of health and beauty products. Beautycounter provides makeup and skin products carefully crafted to be the best for one’s skin, making a conscious effort to not include approximately 1,500 harmful ingredients linked to cancer, hormone disruption and reproductive issues. Beautycounter believes health is one’s greatest asset and is working at a national level to improve beauty industry standards. Locally, Kelly O’Neill opened a space to bring personal consults and special events to Lancaster (watch for a pop-up shop next month just in time for the holidays). Walk-ins are welcome and socials can also come to customers’ homes.

Next month, regionally renowned makeup artist Maggie King celebrates the one-year anniversary of her brick-and-mortar shop, MKUP. This downtown York business focuses on providing quality and attention to detail for every wedding and bridal party. MKUP provides mobile makeup for weddings as well as special occasion makeup sessions in the studio, plus waxing, special occasion hair, headshots and in-studio classes.
