September marks one of my favorite issues of the year: Dream Homes. Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved everything aspirational when it comes to homes. From watching the Saturday morning real estate shows with my parents to decorating a dorm room to furnishing my first apartment and beyond. I truly believe that the space we live in can affect our lives in more ways than we imagine. The look, the smell, the function—how it all comes together can transform our day to day lives and in this issue, we have a little bit of something for each of these elements starting with this month’s Live Well piece on page 15. Janine Arneson Nolt talks us through some tips and tricks to consider to ensure we are being positively affected by our environments.
For those who love to entertain and show off their homes, turn to page 10 for this month’s Shop in Style piece designed to help you beautify your bar cart.
There’s no denying that for some, nothing beats a vintage piece of furniture—enter Adamstown, this month’s Talk of the Town. Turn to page 8 to plan your trip to the antique capital of the country. Have an antique piece that needs a little TLC? Check out White House on the Square on page 12 to see how this business is bringing life back into older pieces of furniture.
Not sure if you prefer old or new and just looking for some inspiration. Check out this year’s featured local dream home on page 28.
Lastly, nothing makes a home feel more complete than the perfect aroma. Elevate your home’s scent by stopping in one of the local candle shops on page 48.
