PA Guild Annual Holiday Fine Craft Fair

Lancaster County Convention Center S. Queen St., Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17603
A celebration of American creativity is coming to the Lancaster County Convention Center, November 8 & 9. The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen presents its annual holiday fine craft fair, open from 10 am – 6 pm Saturday and 10 am – 5 pm Sunday.
The fair features the work of 140 craftspeople who were selected by a jury for their unique vision and impeccable craftsmanship. Items for sale include pottery, jewelry, designer clothing, furniture, scherenschnitte, and fine art.
Among the craftspeople representing handmade ingenuity are several Lancaster-based artists.
- Eric Berman creates bird houses from both new and old wood, topping them with verdigris copper or tin roofs. The quality of his individually crafted birdhouses was truly tested when one weathered storm Sandy in October 2012 – and still remained sturdy to provide a home for returning birds!
- Christine Spangler creates woven items of soft yarn and carefully selected color combinations. Her interpretation of this centuries-old craft often utilizes innovative fibers like bamboo.
“Lancaster itself is a great mix of creative energy and valued traditions,” says executive director Sherrie Boyer. “Our craftsmen exemplify those qualities, too. It makes Lancaster a wonderful spot for our hometown and for our annual holiday show.”
The Guild welcomes 6 emerging craftsmen to the fine craft fair. Three exhibitors who have honed their skill with years of constant practice will also receive recognition through the Benchmark Awards program. These awards recognize craftspeople who embody excellence in craftsmanship, resolved design, and unique style.
In its first-ever year as a “homeowner,” the Guild continued its tradition of connecting master craftsmen with lovers and students of fine craft at its new headquarters, the Center of American Craft at 335 N. Queen St. The center provides creative spaces for workshops, exhibitions, and a store.
