Graphic novels, like comic books, provide an outlet for combining creative writing with stylized illustration. This class will include an overview of different forms of sequential storytelling from comic strips to American comic books through to European style graphic novels and Japanese Manga. Learn the fundamentals of story development, plot structure, character design, page layout, penciling, inking, lettering, coloring/ grayscaling, packaging, and production. Traditional and digital techniques will be explored to provide a range of skills and potential avenues for personal expression.
