About The Kids Trust
Each day in the United States, more than four children die as a result of child abuse. A case of child abuse is reported every 10 seconds on average in the United States. Survivors of child abuse are six times more likely to become abusive parents. 45% of abused children become adult alcoholics. These statistics show the devastation that child abuse has on our society. This tragedy crosses all socio-economic and racial barriers throughout the country and right here in Central PA.
The Kids Trust was created by Gary L. Houck, Jr. “To help young children of abuse grow up in a safe, happy and exciting environment.” He had the mission statement and board of advisors established prior to his death, and gave much thought to these selections and purpose.
The Kids Trust charitable fund was established and aligned with The Foundation for Enhancing Communities in his memory. His board and family establish the activities and benefactors of The Kids Trust. It is a perpetual fund, and will always accept contributions, suggestions and seek to fulfill its mission statement. The local agencies chosen as recipients use the grants to aid victims of child abuse.
