Relief funds have been put into motion like the York Artists Relief Fund, Art Alliance of Central PA Fund, and nationwide Artist Relief Fund organized by small to mid-sized grantmakers in the United States. These organizations are aiming to provide financial assistance to artists in the region and across the nation to help navigate this time. Consider donating to one of these funds to help local artists.
Stream Music and Purchase Merch
Many local musicians have Youtube, Spotify, or Apple Music accounts--stream their music to show your support. A way to encourage others to do the same is to share what you’re listening to on your social channels or sending the direct links to music. Not familiar with any local bands or musicians? Check out the calendars and past set-lists of your favorite bars or restaurants that feature live music. If you want to go a step further, show your support by purchasing merch. Tellus 360 has made a Spotify Playlist of past performances from local artists. Also, Kable House Presents is using Facebook to stream artists from past performances like: Zach Shmidt Music, Anthony D’Amato, and more. Kable House Presents t-shirts are also available to help support their independent concert series.

Enjoy the Theatre at Home
Other ways to support are by streaming shows or videos from local theaters and productions. Prima Theatre has officially launched PrimaAtHome which brings the theater to you with videos from past performances and online exclusive content. Other local theaters like the Appel Center for the Performing Arts are doing virtual classes that can appeal to all ages as a way to stay engaged in the community. Overall, keeping up with your favorite local theaters or performing arts centers on social channels or through their own programs can help sustain them through this time.
Purchase a Piece
Plain and simple. The region is home to a diverse range of artists, finding a few that speak to you shouldn’t be difficult. There are local studios across the region that have online stores or are still taking commissions so that you can welcome a new piece into your home.
