Who has been your biggest influence?
My parents have always been my biggest influence and inspiration. They have always instilled in me and my siblings to give back no matter how little you have. When living with your heart and understanding gratitude and giving, it will change your entire perspective on life.
What motivated you to be involved in your community?
Prior to 2016, I participated in numerous charity events in NYC where I would donate a dress for auction. It was nice to give back. I have always wanted to incorporate philanthropy in my business. When I opened my store, I was trying to think of a way to bring about brand awareness and at the same time help an organization. I worked with Bethesda Mission to create a campaign called Buy a tee, Give one free. When someone would purchase a logo tee, we would donate a basic tee to Bethesda. We donated over 100 tee shirts. This year I decided to continue the partnership by donating 10% of annual sales to Bethesda. I am excited to see what our donation will be in December.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Patience! Have patience and believe in yourself. Success does not happen overnight. If you fail, it is okay, just start again. Do not rush and have a plan!! It took me 10 years to figure this out.
What’s your idea of self-care?
It is a mix of getting massages, pedicures and taking time for myself to just sit on the couch and binge tv shows with my husband. I also enjoy going to new restaurants and trying something different. It just feels good to explore.
What message do you have for the future generations of women?
Community is HUGE. Working together for the greater good sounds like a fairy tale but it is so true. Find a group where you can learn from each other, offer support and lift each other up. I am a member of The Female Founders Collective. They offer resources for woman small business owners. There is a fantastic local group for creatives called Oak Moss Collective, they created retreats that are a form of self-care and learning. I have also found an amazing collective of women called Horizon Bridal in NYC, for use small bridal designers. I have never met a group so committed to leading each other and helping each other make their way in the bridal industry.
