Judy is the owner of Zimmerman Auto and serves as a mentor to many women in the automotive industry through Women in Auto Care. Through the Covid shut down, she worked night and day to keep Zimmerman’s Automotive moving forward. She spent her time checking in with employees that were laid off, applying for small business grants and loans, continuously watching the company progress, and making sure every customer and employee was safe and healthy. Judy’s hard work and determination to take care of others shows every single day.
Who has been your biggest influence?
God, without His influence I would have crumbled under the uncertainties of 2020. Secondly, my father, Norman Zimmerman, he started the business I am now running. His training, guidance and understanding has been invaluable as I learned the business.
Another person was Ed Messner. He was the President and CEO of West Shore Chamber of Commerce. He taught me so much about the bigger business industry. He took a young woman who was green in business and taught me so much. He, like my father, believed in me as a business leader and took the time to answer my questions.
What motivated you to be involved in your community?
I was born here, came back after schooling, my family and business are here. My customers are here. I am involved with many organizations to make my community a better place.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Advise. Stay positive at all costs in all situations. Give grace to others and yourself. “No one can put you down without your permission.
What’s your idea of self care?
Reading a book. My favorite place to read is on the beach. I read a little bit of everything.
What message do you have for the future generations of women?
You can do it. Respect is earned, but starts with self-respect. Life is not all about you.
