While each season creates a unique backdrop for every wedding, spring is unlike any other. With all the fresh, blooming flowers, there’s no doubting the natural beauty spring provides. Heather Leicy from Heather Marie Photography says, “[spring] allows couples to have a natural and colorful setting for their wedding to take place, without them having to try to create their own.” Springtime is significant for many reasons--flowers begin to bloom, the sun begins to stay out for longer, and for some springtime means love, growth, and new beginnings.

Intimate Details
Whether it has a party of 15 or 300, a wedding evokes a level of intimacy between the couple and their guests. The overall inspiration for the shoot was to create an enchanted secret garden--an oasis where the newlyweds could bask in the company of their loved ones. Elements like florals and drapery were used to exude elegance, romance, and a certain airiness, Leicy says. Creating a peaceful environment allows guests to feel comfortable in the setting they’re in. A wedding is made up of many moving parts; however, at the end of the day what matters is the intimate moments shared between the newlyweds and their guests.

The Color Scheme
Blush and neutral tones have been on-trend for a reason. There’s a certain aspect of romanticism and softness that is created when using these colors. Together, they play off the natural background spring provides. Fresh greenery, roses, and other florals were also used to emphasize the enchanted garden theme. Different tones of sage, seen in the seeded eucalyptus, add a pop of color without being too bold. By taking inspiration from the environment, the shoot created a cohesive look throughout the day while also giving homage to the natural beauty of the venue, Drumore Estates. While still keeping the organic feel, a hint of glam was incorporated mainly in the use of gold accents. The circular arch, cutlery, and centerpieces complemented the blushy tones in the flowers used. Gold is a warm color and has an earthy feel to it--making it the perfect metallic to add to a natural color scheme.

Remnants of the Past
The Susquehanna Valley is a hub of all things vintage. Treasured Events, a curated collection of vintage and modern rentals, provided pieces like the tufted couch, the Charleston white buffet, and the sweetheart table. There’s something about vintage pieces that continues the romantic and soft theme of the shoot. Opting to use the white buffet instead of a plain table made the dessert and cake stand out, making it part of the theme.

Radiating Beauty
Staying cohesive throughout all parts of the photoshoot was essential to the whole team. Tiffany Buckwalter of Fearfully and Wonderfully 139 knew she wanted to continue the organic feel even with hair and makeup. While also inspired by springtime gardens, Buckwalter used various shades of rosy pinks and kept within the same color range. Dusty mauves were used on the lids and rose-gold glittery accents were used to enhance the model’s eyes. The rest of the face was kept simple and fresh. Buckwalter says, “I kept her face makeup clean and simple, with minimal contouring and a subtle natural glow, to play off of the ’clean’ feeling that springtime often brings us.” Staying within the theme of au naturel, the model’s hair was kept in her natural curls and only enhanced with a few products. The overall upstyle was kept loose and flowy--an effortlessly romantic look.
No matter the season, the natural setting will certainly be a unique one. Springtime is especially gorgeous, because of the fresh blooms and warmth. Whatever season you choose for your wedding, it’s important to create your own oasis filled with the people you love. That way, years from now, they’ll be able to look back and say, “love was definitely in the air.”
