SoCal is known for its beaches, relaxed cool attitude, and of course, beautiful people. This wedding photo-shoot was inspired by SoCal’s natural landscape. Palms, soft boho touches, and pops of golds and pink came together to create this one of a kind ambiance.
Good (Color) Vibes
Rebekah Viola Photography lent her talents to this SoCal inspired shoot. Viola’s works are known for their soft pink and muted golden undertones. Marcy Almoney from Foster’s Flowers wanted to complement Viola’s style and included a variety of greens, pinks, and pops of gold as the main colors of the shoot. The rest of the décor was kept neutral and soft to emulate the relaxed boho feel they wanted to achieve.
Floral Frenzy
Almoney had visited Southern California before doing the shoot and was inspired by the tropical foliage of the region. Palms, pampa grass, and bleached floral products were used to design the grand column. The use of palms and pampa grass really brought home the SoCal vibe. Hints of combo roses, smilax, and dusted anemones were also used for texture and color. The contrast between the bright pink backdrop and the floral column allowed for Almoney’s work to really stand out. Air plants which are native to Southern parts of the United States, were used on the sweetheart table as a twist on the succulent trend. Almoney also included air plants in flat lays and in the hanging install. Adding a floral headpiece to the model’s hair was the perfect final touch to tie the whole shoot’s floral elements together.
Table Talk
When you’re not dancing or catching up with guests, your sweetheart table is considered a home base. Like the overall SoCal color scheme, the décor on the sweetheart table was kept soft with hints of color. Almoney used the same flowers and plants on the sweetheart table as on the large-scale column. Blush pampa grass, palms, and combo flowers were added to a soft pink vase while muted pink roses in clear vases helped add a pop of green. Mini cacti and air plants were also used for a minimal table scape. The tablecloth was kept a muted pink and the macramé runner definitely brought a beachy feature. To bring back the gold, bold cutlery and plates were used for warmth and a bit of glamour. No detail was left behind! Even the glassware was rose tinted for a romantic and soft look.
Whether you’re in Central PA or the Golden State, you can still make your wedding exactly how you envisioned. Your wedding is a reflection of you. By incorporating elements of the natural landscape, you can bring in a taste of the place you’re trying to replicate. Don’t let geography hold you back, because let’s be real, California is always a good idea.
