THEIR LOVE STORY
Our love story began in the fall of 2017 when we met in downtown Philadelphia under the shadow of Independence Hall. Lauren was in nursing school at Thomas Jefferson and Josh was working as program analyst for an office in the city. It was another common online match-making success story (fun fact it was Lauren’s first online date ever). It didn’t take long after the first date until we became inseparable. Lauren lived in the city and Josh lived in the suburbs. We spent countless nights in the hustle and bustle of the city but also would unwind in the quiet streets of suburbia. Sprinkle in a number of trips to Pittsburgh, Lauren’s hometown, and it was a relationship that never stopped growing. We moved in together in 2018, got a beautiful little dachshund in 2019, and Lauren finished her Masters in Nursing in 2020. COVID-19 threw some curveballs in the wedding planning but it all worked out for the best.

THEIR INSPIRATION
For our wedding we were looking for an elegant affair with both traditional and modern touches. Our original inspiration was the classic black and white color palate. We carried this through in the flowers, dresses, and décor. The harp and violin were great accompaniments to the ceremony and cocktail hour. However, knowing we had a lively guestlist, we also wanted to have the modern features of a great DJ to keep the reception upbeat and flexible. An after-dinner dance party was what everyone wanted, and no one left the dance floor for 2 hours straight! We definitely struck a great balance for the day—elegant and refined for the ceremony and cocktail hour, yet fun and exciting for the reception.

THEIR FAVORITE PART
Our favorite part of the wedding day was the atmosphere of the venue. It was a private oasis that allowed the whole wedding party to stay comfortable and involved. Being able to experience the full range of wedding festivities with the ease of staying on one breath-taking campus with all the amenities made the entire day extra memorable.
THEIR ADVICE
Our advice for couples that are getting married in the future is ‘Obstacles can be expected, but there is nothing you can’t overcome.’ With a little hard work and maybe a little compromise, things have a way of working out for people who put their heart into it. From changing dates to changing venues, we struggle to find anything we would have wanted differently after our big day. There were countless obstacles but we worked together to adapt and change. Going into a wedding and ultimately a marriage, we feel like this is advice we would pass on.
