THE THEME
The groom calls this Pennsylvania destination wedding “classy rustic.” From the stone exterior of the historic Moonstone Manor to the beautiful canopied tent, the setting was movie-worthy. Accordingly, the couple scaled back their decorations to highlight the venue, with its sculptured gardens and creek-side scenery. The mansion’s interior provided a beautiful backdrop for getting ready, with its murals and stenciled walls. A running joke about bears inserted itself into the original scheme, with polar bears topping the cake.
THE DETAILS
Think design. The bride and groom combined their fingerprints into a heart motif, woven in throughout the wedding. Having met in an architecture class at Drexel in Philly, the couple recalled those days as they expressed themselves artistically. An architect’s table Rob had loaned to Jenna in college, topped with a T-square, held seating arrangements designed by Rob. An ink drawing of the Moonstone Manor, made by the bride, served as a guest book, and a wood grain letterpress was used for the invitations. The father of the bride labeled Jenna, who teaches yoga, and Rob, who is a crossfit trainer “yin and yang.”
THE THREADS
It was a dream of a dress, with textured lace and a luminous champagne belt, which Jenna transformed from the dress’ original sash. The dresses worn by the bridesmaids and the mother of the bride were a stunning mix in a range of blush shades and styles. The groomsmen wore deep pink ties with their light grey suits, a gift from Rob, and had them custom-tailored in contemporary silhouettes. For the ceremony, Rob wore a tie bearing the Lamont tartan of his Scottish heritage. Jenna’s engagement ring belonged to Rob’s great-grandmother, who had offered it to Rob when she met Jenna, and she carried her late grandmother’s cameo in her bouquet.
THE BLOOMS
Seasonal flowers and foliage were used to their best advantage, with hydrangea, garden roses, succulents, spray roses, soft, wispy astilbe and dusty miller. A birch-wrapped vase, pretty vintage lanterns and shepherd’s hooks made by Rob’s father lent an elegant touch.
THE EATS
Buffet style, with carved beef, salmon and local, fresh fare. Table signs shared stories of places the couple loves, and the guests enjoyed a design-your-own coffee bar and take-out popcorn stand with a variety of toppings. For the rehearsal dinner on the venue’s patio, a laid-back menu of kabobs and sweet potato fries was served, while guests watched a video montage of the couple when they were growing up, a surprise from a friend.
THE GETAWAY
Mini-tours in Pari, at Monet’s house in Giverny, and at a chateau in the Loire Valley they’d studied on their architecture final in school.
