Cornwall Manor
The “new nature of senior living” takes on multi-faceted meanings at southern Lebanon County’s Cornwall Manor.
“It’s a bucolic area, with mature trees, walking and bicycle paths. There’s a rural beauty, yet we’re close to Hershey, Harrisburg, and Lancaster,” says Jennifer Margut, Cornwall Manor’s vice president of marketing & public relations. The Lebanon Valley Rail Trail even intersects the campus, designed for residents ages 60-plus.
Cornwall Manor is currently expanding its Woods campus. New homes constructed on its 109 acres provide residents with independent living plus Cornwall Manor’s services and amenities, from on-site dining to a pool/spa, plus social activities.
In addition to independent living options, there are personal care and skilled nursing care options. Margut says residents and family members have “peace of mind” knowing those level-of-care options are available should those services be needed later in life.
Cornwall Manor is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2019. The Coleman family originally owned the property, including the Cornwall Iron Furnace, through the 1800s. The family’s will instructed the property be sold to “a worthy cause”; the Methodist Church opened Cornwall Manor’s doors in 1949.
Cornwall Manor is a not-for-profit community, which Margut says is a very important factor for many residents. An endowment fund provides a safety net for residents.
“Residents come to Cornwall Manor to have the lifestyle they want, without the worries of home upkeep,” Margut explains. “We take care of all home maintenance, cutting grass, and shoveling snow. Cornwall Manor’s residents are so active that we say living here is for the young at heart.”
“In fact, many of our residents say living on Cornwall Manor’s campus makes them feel like they’re back in college,” says Margut.
