Pantone, the global authority on color, predicts this lush green will be found in all facets of the design world in 2013—from fashion and beauty to interior and exterior décor.
Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, emerald is a sophisticated and luxurious color. “As it has throughout history, multifaceted emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”
This jewel-like hue will create a regal feel in an entryway, powder room, dining room or study and bring life to a living room as an accent wall. Can’t commit to a wall of pure color? Try incorporating an emerald patterned wallpaper (see pg. 49 for one of our favorites). Add a splash of color to the kitchen and dining room areas with emerald dinnerware, stemware and culinary gadgets. Bedrooms, too, can be upgraded with on-trend textiles, like emerald bedding, pillows and rugs.
For a fresh take on this refined green, pair it with coordinating tones of aqua and mint.
