Profiles of local organizations doing the greater good in our communities
VisionCorps, formerly Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Vision Impaired, has been dedicated to helping people who are vision impaired for more than 85 years. The agency offers a full range of services to accomplish this mission, from education and advocacy to rehabilitation and vocational services. Based in Lancaster, VisionCorps assists more than 2,000 youth and adult clients every year. Volunteers can provide driving services, friendly visits for those who need someone to brighten their day and administrative support for the agency. Donations to VisionCorps Foundation, the fundraising division, help to offset the expenses associated with these services. If you wish to support VisionCorps either with a financial contribution or by volunteering, simply click on the Support Us tab of the VisionCorps website. Mark your calendars June 12 for the upcoming 2nd Look Lancaster networking event, where you can learn more about this cause.

Reader’s Lens: Susquehanna Valley Snapshots
In honor of our annual pets issue, we asked to see photos of your furry friends.
We got not one or two, but three photos of Alice the Beagle from sisters Rebecca and Heather and mother Tammy Mill of Ephrata. Third time’s a charm!
From our Facebook Fans:
In honor of Father's Day, we asked our Facebook fans: What's the best advice your dad ever gave you?
"'Put it in the bank!' Every dime I ever got my hands on, his first question would be 'What are you going to do with that?' The correct answer was 'Put it in the bank.' He is definitely the saver in our family, and as an adult, I'm glad to have had that perspective to help balance out the desire to spend!” - Erin Cramer, Lancaster
The Merrier Terrier
If you’re looking for something stylish and unique for your pooch, look no further than The Merrier Terrier, where you can find accessories from bandannas to suitcases converted into dog beds, all created by York resident Brianne Shoop with help from her husband David. Shoop also creates handcrafted wooden food stations that hold your pup’s food bowls while keeping less-than-pretty bags of food hidden away. The stations are made to hold a 13-pound bag of food and can be placed against a wall in the kitchen or another room to blend in and look like a cabinet. So, if you want something cute or convenient for your dog that can double as something that complements your home décor, visit The Merrier Terrier to see what you can find, or follow Shoop on Instagram for her latest creations.

The Best of Both Worlds
Can’t decide if you’re in the mood for Mexican or Italian for dinner tonight? Mexitaly solves that problem easily by offering both cuisines for your satisfaction. They recently reopened after moving to a new location on East Market Street in York. The move provided the restaurant with much more space, also allowing them to expand their menu and serve beer brewed on the premises. Mexitaly definitely has a unique array of menu choices, with items ranging from gourmet soups and pastas to the signature brick-oven-baked Mexitaly pizza, topped with salsa, chorizo, cheese, beans, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo. With the addition of an on-site brewery, you can get everything you need to satisfy your palate in one place. For the full menu, visit the restaurant’s website, or just stop on by to placate your Mexitalian craving.
